Partnering with Origin
We’re proud partners of Origin Global, and for a project of this scale and complexity, they were the obvious choice. Standard industry lead times sit at four to six weeks, but Origin keeps stock of profiles and components ready for delivery within 24 hours where needed.
That responsiveness was essential on a site where dates were constantly shifting. Their aluminium range also suited the brief beautifully, drawing on traditional timber window detailing while delivering a clean modern finish. Add in ISO 14001 and BES 6001 certifications and we knew the sustainability credentials would stack up too.
The products used
Every product was specified from Origin’s premium aluminium range:
- OW80 aluminium windows (81 units): Flush casement windows with 91mm sightlines, PAS 24 and Secured by Design accredited, achieving U-values as low as 0.8W/m²K with Aerogel technology.
- OB49 single doors (10 units): Slim 49mm sightlines, Secured by Design accredited, backed by Origin’s 20-year guarantee.
- OB49 French doors (11 units): Opening through 180° with a choice of three thresholds, including a mobility-accessible option.
- OB49 bifold doors (11 sets): Ranging from three to five leaves, with Plot 7 featuring a striking five-door configuration.
- SE04 front doors (7 units): Contemporary entrances with sidelights and a security-first specification suited to rural homes.
Challenges we faced
The biggest challenge? The programme doubled from seven to 14 months due to builder delays beyond our control.
That threw installation dates, deliveries and team allocations out of sync. Rather than react, we got proactive. We set up a two-way communication system with West-Tec, sharing delivery cut-offs and installation needs while they kept us posted on trade movements.
We kept our teams flexible, rescheduled carefully and leaned on Origin’s 24-hour turnaround when apertures were finalised later than expected. No bottleneck, no compromise on quality.
What made this project unique?
This was a rare combination of scale, variation and aesthetic sensitivity. Seven contemporary homes sitting in a traditional Gloucestershire village meant the glazing had to feel modern without jarring against its rural surroundings.
Slim sightlines, flush casement detailing and aluminium’s clean profiles bridged that gap perfectly. The mixed façades, render on some plots and cladding on others, also meant every property needed a tailored installation approach to keep reveals, sightlines and weatherproofing consistent across the development.
How does aluminium suit a rural village setting?
Aluminium delivers slim sightlines and clean modern profiles, but Origin’s flush casement detailing nods to traditional timber windows.
That mix lets contemporary homes settle comfortably into heritage surroundings. It’s also infinitely recyclable, weather-resistant and low maintenance, making it a practical long-term choice for rural properties.
Product compliance and performance
Every product met or exceeded current standards. OW80 windows are PAS 24 and Secured by Design accredited, OB49 doors carry Secured by Design certification and all hardware has been cycle-tested 50,000 times.
Thermally, the windows reach U-values of 0.8W/m²K and the doors 1.1W/m²K, comfortably meeting Part L.
Mobility thresholds comply with Approved Document M, and workmanship met FENSA standards, BS 8000-7 and Building Regulations L and N. Homeowners benefit from Origin’s 20-year guarantee alongside our own installation warranty and insurance-backed protection.
Sustainability built in
Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, and Origin’s BES 6001 and ISO 14001 credentials reinforce responsible sourcing and waste reduction.
The slim sightlines maximise natural light, lowering reliance on artificial lighting, while the thermal performance reduces heating demand for decades to come. On site, we optimised deliveries, recycled off-cuts and used a local team to keep our carbon footprint down.
